Scale effects in the post-cracking behaviour of fibre-reinforced concrete beams

چکیده

Abstract The scale effects on the global structural response of fibre-reinforced concrete (FRC) beams subjected to bending are discussed in framework Fracture Mechanics by means Updated Bridged Crack Model (UBCM). This model predicts different post-cracking regimes depending two dimensionless numbers: reinforcement brittleness number , N P which is related fibre volume fraction, V f ; and pull-out w embedment length, c . Both these numbers depend beam depth, h which, keeping other variables be constant, drives a ductile-to-brittle transition regime composite. critical value number, PC allows for prediction minimum (critical) specimen size, min analogously f,min required achieve stable response. Numerical simulations compared experimental results reported scientific literature, FRC specimens, characterized same fraction but sizes, tested bending.

Behaviour of fibre reinforced concrete slabs

This paper presents a comparison of the properties of concrete slabs when two types of fibres are added. One specimen had no fibres and acted as a control specimen. The remaining four specimens had steel and polypropylene fibres added in the volumetric ratio of 0.5% and 1.0%. The dimensions of the slab specimens were 820×820×80 mm and were supported by four rollers at their edges. A displacemen...

Experimental Investigation of Corrosion Cracking in Reinforced Concrete Beams Containing Nano Wollastonite

Cracking of the concrete cover due to corrosion is defined as the serviceability limit state of reinforced concrete structures. This study evaluated the influence of a mineral admixture i.e. nano wollastonite on corrosion performance and serviceability of reinforced concrete structures by performing an accelerated corrosion test on ten reinforced concrete beams under a sustained load. To do so,...

Behaviour of Reinforced Fibrous Concrete Beams under Reversed Cyclic Loading

When earthquakes occur, energy released by the earthquake gets induced into the structure as ground motion and this energy has to be dissipated for safety reasons. To release seismic energy, the structure should damage in such a way that on one hand, collapse of structure should not occur and on the other hand, after the earthquake, damage should be economically feasible to repair. To avoid the...

Effects of used Engine Oil in Reinforced Concrete Beams: The Structural Behaviour

In the modern construction practices, industrial wastes or by-products are largely used as raw materials in cement and concrete. These impart many benefits to the environment and bringabout an economic impact because the cost of waste disposal is constantly increasing due to strict environmental regulations. It was reported in literature that the leakage of oil onto concrete element in older ce...
